Being a part of the UOGamers: Demise community can extend outside of just in game experiences. Two other areas of interest are IRC and participating in the Forums. Both of these venues are additional environments to interact with your fellow players, stay up-to-date on the latest news, and converse with both players and staff. Here we will discuss how to get involved in using IRC.

IRC involves using a third-party program used by many players to communicate real time outside of the game. Joining the Demise chat room is a fantastic way to meet new friends and get answers to every day questions. One program you can use to chat is available for download at:

Upon launching mIRC, you will first encounter the “About mIRC” window. When the Continue button on the bottom right becomes available, click it. This brings you to mIRC Options. “Connect” should be highlighted on the tree to the left in the white box. Enter any alias name in the Full Name box as well as any email (valid or not) under Email Address. Nickname is the name you wish to enter IRC as and then enter an Alternative which will be used in the event that your first choice is taken.

The next step is to add the RunUO IRC server to your server list and then connect. Click the yellow and orange sunshine icon next to “Connect to Server”. The contents of your window will have now changed. Leave “IRC Network: “ at “All”. Under “IRC Server” click the “Add” button. In the Description textbox of the new Add Server window that pops up, enter “UOGamers: Demise”. For IRC Server, enter “irc.runuo.com”. Leave “Port” at the default of 6667, “Group” at empty and “Password” empty. Click the “Add” button again which returns you to the previous window with “irc.runuo.com” now selected under IRC Server. (If it is not then find it in the drop down menu and select it.) You can now click “Connect to Server” to connect to the RunUO IRC server. In the future, you can now click “Connect to Server” immediately upon entering Options as it will connect you to the last IRC server you selected (which would be RunUO).

After successfully connecting, simply type “/join #demise” to enter the Demise IRC channel and begin chatting.

There's also another Demise channel for your use for one purpose, the trades channel. Please use this channel for all trade and trade-related chatting. To enter this channel, type "/join #demise-trades"
